Jewish Wisdom for a Secular World

David Weitzner in Conversation With DJ Schneeweiss

Rebuilding after the global pandemic and reckoning with the fallout offers a renewed opportunity to bring unabashedly Jewish ideas into daily life. At a time when society often presents spirituality as something passive and inward-focused, Professor David Weitzner offers an alternative, deeply Jewish view. In his award-winning recent book, Connected Capitalism: How Jewish Wisdom Can Transform Work, David places Jewish concepts like mitzvah and chavrusa at the center of a reimagined world where creating value, initiating change, and encouraging cooperation is profoundly spiritual work, even in our seemingly most secular spaces. Join David in conversation with DJ Schneeweiss, where he will elaborate on these ideas, the Jewish sources which inspired them, the contemporary research backing them up, and the implications for society more broadly of bringing Jewish wisdom into our secular world.

David Weitzner is a management professor at York University in Toronto, Canada. He is the author of Connected Capitalism, recently announced as a 2021 INDIES Book of the Year Bronze Winner in Business and Economics, Fifteen Paths: How to Tune out Noise, Turn on Imagination and Find Wisdom and the Managing with Meaning blog for Psychology Today. He co-edited Corporate Social Responsibility and co-authored Strategic Management: Creating Competitive Advantages and has presented work at a host of prestigious international conferences, including the Business as an Agent of World Benefit Global Forum co-sponsored by the UN Global Compact. His cultural writings appear in outlets as diverse as The Conversation, Business Insider, Tablet Magazine, Chabad.Org, The Forward, The Algemeiner, and The National Post.

DJ Sichneeweiss is an independent consultant, working with private companies and public institutions to advance their strategy, communications, and global outreach.
